Blogging is a discipline I have only attempted once in my life, when I was studying abroad in Europe. Thus, my experience as a blogger is quite limited, but I am very excited to start actually documenting my weekly happenings. Many of my posts will be used to show you process shots, sketches, behind-the-scenes production, and other aspects of my business. Other posts will simply give you a glimpse into my heart, letting you get to know me and the type of person and artist I am. And then there may possibly be some food posts. You see, I have a confession. Since middle school I have been an avid food blog reader. My dream for years has been to create a cooking blog myself, but unlike Joanna Gaines, my goal here is not to try every endeavor I can muster, but to focus on the projects I care about most. Currently, that project is Sugared Fig Paperie.
The last month has been one of the craziest but also the most wonderful. My husband and I both graduated college with our BS (Biochemistry and Secondary Mathematics, respectively), I was in my second local craft fair, we moved to the great city of Fort Worth, I got a middle school math teaching position for next year, and completed at least ten wedding suites for brides around the world (I say that because one of my brides lives in the UK!) During this month, there were many goodbyes, much packing, long hours of decorating our new home, nights of strolling through our new city under the streetlights, giggles, struggles, and a lot of peace.
One of my favorite experiences of this month was being a part of the 7th Bi-Annual A People Party Productions Craft Fair in Abilene. Craft fairs are a wonderful thing because they allow all kinds of creators and fun people to work alongside each other for the common goal of promoting local business, creativity, and the value of handmade items. Not only were the other vendors the best, but the shoppers were nothing but encouraging and enthusiastic about my little shop. Also, Alex deserves all the credit for keeping me sane and supplying me with coffee. It was such a fun time!
